CorINFO |
Choice of Operating System
CorINFO supports a wide range of Operating Systems. CorINFO up to version 3.1 runs under Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 operating systems. CorINFO versions 3.2 and higher run under Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems, and offers advanced functionality and code optimization. In addition, a Linux version of CorINFO is under development and will be released, as soon as, quality and performance testing is completed.
Web-Enabled
CorINFO allows ease and secure access to web pages residing on the Kiosk Terminal, a local host (virtual host), a corporate intranet, or the internet. Its build-in capabilities and support for network and dial-up connectivity (eg. TCP/IP, Dial-up Modem, ISDN, ADSL, DSL, Cable and Wireless), and its simple and robust user-interface, enables complete novices to browse in a safe, controlled and intuitive manner. CorINFO can also acts as a secure front-end to multimedia presentations and as a front-end for delivering web-based content, services and applications.
Choice of Internet Browser
CorINFO shells the two most popular browsers on the market today, the Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 4.01 or higher) and the Netscape Navigator (version 3.0 or higher). Apart from a few minor differences, CorINFO behaves similarly with either one of these two browsers. However, the browser of your choice must be installed properly prior to the CorINFO installation.
Multiple Browser Windows
CorINFO supports multiple browser windows; these are opened in an area of the Application Screen Layout that is identified as the “Browser Box”. The Browser Box can be positioned anywhere on the Kiosk Application layout (the application developer can specify the size and position) and can handle content in various formats, as well as, pop-ups.
When a Kiosk Application is configured to “Load Pop-Ups in New Browser Windows”, CorINFO will normally allow up to 19 different Browser Windows to be opened in a single Browser Box (number depends on the size of the Browser Box) and each Browser Windows is automatically linked to the Progress Bar (if the developers adds a Progress Bar to the Kiosk Application layout).
Multimedia Support
The extensive multimedia support and powerful customization capabilities of CorINFO, allow Kiosk owners to easily adopt various Advertising Strategies (eg. Banner Advertisements with Hot Links, Advertising Buttons, Advertising Panels, Full-screen Multimedia Carousel Advertisements), as well as, various Presentation Methods (eg. Static Information Display, Dynamic On-line Information Display, Hardcopy Printing).
Kiosk information content can be created by any standard multimedia tool, such as, the MS FrontPage, for CorINFO supports all common content formats, including HTML (.htm, .html, .stm, .shtm, .shtml, .xml files), Text, Image (.bmp, .jpg, .gif, .dib, .emf, .wmf files), Video (.avi, .mpg files) and Sound (.wav files). This diversity of content/file formats that CorINFO supports, allows Kiosk applications developers to leverage on existing tools and content.
Multilanguage Support
CorINFO is positioned as the only real Multilanguage software for Kiosk and Interactive Terminal applications. For example, CorINFO Button Captions, Text and e-Mails can be edited in any language, for it supports the following character sets and fonts:

CorINFO also provides the Language Selection Button that can be added anywhere on the Kiosk Application Screen Layout and at any numbers. The attributes of the Language Selection Button influence the behavior of the whole Kiosk Application. As such, CorINFO allows Language Specific Customization. For example, general navigation and bookmark buttons (eg. Home, NavigateTo) can be configured to load different information for each language. Consequently, when a general navigation or bookmark button is pressed/clicked, the information page (file, web-page) that is loaded is in accord to the current language selected by the user.
The Language Selection Button also switches the keyboard layout (both the physical and the graphical/virtual keyboard) to the language selected. Thus, when the Keyboard Button is pressed, CorINFO automatically loads the graphical/virtual keyboard and the locale of the current language selected by the user (provided that the Locale-Fonts-Keyboard of that language is already installed in the Operating System).
CorINFO provides standard, build-in, graphical/ virtual keyboards and support for the following input locales:
| ● English (United States) | ● French | ● Portuguese (Iberian) | ||
| ● English (United Kingdom) | ● German | ● Romanian | ||
| ● Arabic (Saudi Arabia) | ● Greek | ● Russian | ||
| ● Bulgarian | ● Hebrew | ● Slovak | ||
| ● Croatian | ● Hungarian | ● Slovenian | ||
| ● Czech | ● Italian | ● Spanish | ||
| ● Danish | ● Norwegian | ● Swedish | ||
| ● Dutch | ● Polish (Progr. KBD) | ● Thai (Kedmanee) | ||
| ● Finnish | ● Portuguese (Brazil) | ● Turkish |
All the build-in graphical/virtual keyboards of CorINFO conform to the Microsoft Windows Standard Keyboard Layouts in order to leverage the familiarity of most people with the personal computers’ keyboards.
Furthermore, CorINFO can be configured to initially load an information page of a specified language, and to always return to the same language page after cycling through the carousel pages or to load the initial information page of the last language used. For example, if the last user was browsing through the German information pages, then CorINFO can be configured to either load, after the idle mode, the English main menu or to load the German main menu.
