CorINFO Software/System Architecture
CorINFO employs a layered software architecture which allows the Kiosk owners to have freedom of hardware choice and full control over the development of the Kiosk content, since the menus and sub menus displayed on the kiosk can be nested HTML documents residing on the kiosk or on an internet or intranet web server. As such, the Kiosk owners can add/delete/amend the material displayed using standard tools, such as MS FrontPage.
In addition, this software architecture offers flexibility on the system architecture, as well as, various modes of operation with easy transition from one operation mode to another. Possible modes of operation are the following:
- Off-line operations (ie. drive the kiosk from the local drive or a CD-ROM)
- On-line operations (ie. content access from the internet and/or intranet)
- Combination of both on-line and off-line operations.
With CorINFO a kiosk owners can start initially with Off-line operations and later, as the Kiosk network grows, can migrate to full On-line operations.
